drip email campaigns

Having a good drip email campaign in place is key to converting and nurturing more users. According to Martech Zone, open rates for drip campaigns are roughly 80% higher than single send emails. In addition to that, lead nurturing emails get 4-10x the response rates compared to mass email blasts.

Customers are also more likely to convert from a trial to paid through lead nurturing emails.

Still not convinced on the power of drip email campaigns? Here are a few other things that drip email campaigns can do for you:

  • Act as a lead magnet to draw in more subscribers into your content marketing funnel.
  • Get feedback – this goes a long way.
  • Build trust with your users and showing off your company’s expertise.

Obviously, there are a lot more benefits to drip email campaigns, but the reasons above should give you enough reasons to get started.

Converting more users with drip email campaigns

There are a lot of different types of drip email campaigns. That’s the beauty of it. For this article, we’ll be focusing on converting users for a SaaS product.

We write a lot of drip email campaigns for our clients over here at SumoDash and have seen the best results from the clients in the SaaS industry that uses it for nurturing their leads and converting them into a paying customer.

Let’s take a look at a good example.

This is a telehealth SaaS company that allows consumers to chat with a doctor online. They charge a monthly subscription fee for unlimited access to their doctors via video, email, and text.

Initially, before they implemented drip email campaigns, they were only converting a handful of users, but they were able to increase conversion rates by 55% after implementing a series of drip email campaigns.

As soon as you fill out their online onboarding form, you’re engaged into their drip. It starts off with a welcome message that goes like this:

Hi Wilson,

We’ve all been there. You’re feeling under the weather, and the last thing you want to do is spend the day in a waiting room to be rushed through an impersonal appointment. Or maybe the thought of finding a new doctor seems so overwhelming that you’re putting it off. How can you really get the care you deserve if you dread the hassle of going to the doctor?

With our service, there is a better way. A convenient online doctor that you can build a real relationship with.

How are we different?

We take a completely new approach to primary care. With our service you get:

The time and attention you deserve. Our doctors see a limited number of patients and have way more time for you.

Convenience. Talk to your doctor anytime, anywhere through an app on your phone.

A doctor that “gets” you. We’ll pair you with a doctor that’s aligned with your life and goals, not just someone who’s local.

Keeping you and your family healthy, long-term. Not just a quick fix. It’s like having a doctor-friend at your fingertips. A true partner in health for the long haul.

But can I see my doctor in person?
Contact with your doctor is safe, secure and available via:

  • Text
  • Phone calls
  • Video chat

With modern technology, we are able to treat most acute and chronic conditions and prescribe medication just like a traditional doctor – but completely online. No office visits. No waiting.

Having an online doctor can actually be much better than traditional primary care. Our doctors see a limited number of patients and have way more time for you. Plus, it’s online so no driving or waiting. Your doctor is a text or call away!

The last email performed extremely well. Conversions and appointments booked increased the instance they implemented the email into their funnel.

Here’s the next one that the user receives as apart of the drip email campaign.

If you’ve never worked with a personal online doctor before, you probably have lots of questions. Not to worry! We’re here to give you the info you need to decide if our service is right for you.

Can My Doctor Prescribe Medications?

Yes. All of our doctors are licensed and can prescribe a wide range of medications available in a traditional office and can have them sent to your local pharmacy.

“This service allows me to be proactive in my health for the first time in a really long time. Now that I have my son I want to make sure that I am 100% healthy for him.”
Lindsey – Patient

What About Insurance?

The membership fee enables us to provide a level of personalized service (via our doctors and technology) that is not typically reimbursed by most insurers. But In most cases, the fee can be reimbursed by health savings accounts (HSA’s), flexible spending accounts (FSAs), medical savings accounts (MSAs), and health reimbursement accounts (HRAs).

So if you’re ready to ditch the hassle of the traditional healthcare system, we highly encourage you to schedule your first appointment and see what we’re all about!

Remember: There is no risk or long-term commitment to get started.

We would really love to have you as a patient!

There’s quite a bit to go over in this email, but I’ll narrow it down to the goodies.

When a user first signs up on their site, they are greeted by an onboarding form that gathers as much information about their lifestyle and diet as possible. Because of this, they’re able to say, “We found the best option for you based on your diet, lifestyle & more.” and personally use their algorithms to recommend a doctor that specializes in their condition. This is taking personalization to a whole new level.

Second, this is a nurture email and even though they have a public FAQ section, most people don’t seem to navigate to that page. Therefore, the team took together with the most commonly asked questions and answered them within this email.

Big win because it gives the user peace of mind.

And of course, the importance of a strong call to action at the end goes a long way.

The next email is a customer testimonial email.

Hi Wilson,

Below is a letter we received from a real Patient, Jay.

“Where do I start by telling you how valuable this is to me. I will preface this with a disclaimer and say that Spencer (my doctor) is a personal friend. That friendship also doesn’t come with a promise of professional results.

A couple of years ago, I didn’t care about health insurance, doctor visits, or being proactive with anything health related. I considered myself invincible. I was lifting heavy, several years removed from a rugby career, and…

I always thought, ‘it won’t happen to me.’

Until it did. An episode of Atrial Fibrillation turned into Congestive Heart Failure which turned into 6 days in ICU and 60 pounds of water ripped from my body with a heavy dose of diuretic. After that life threatening debacle, I was on seven different medications and it took an ablation to fix my A-Fib.

I was referred by a cardiologist to a PCP, and it took over 1 month to get into the office to see her. The visit was 10 minutes while the waiting room visit was 45 minutes.

This is the norm and it is just another day in the life of medical care in America, until I discovered SteadyMD. I saw Spencer discuss it, I signed up for the initial blast, and I have been with him ever since.

The obvious is obvious in that you don’t need to drive to a waiting room, take time off from work, blah blah blah… but if you are like me, hell even if you aren’t like me, I have a gym to run (owner of Kansas City Barbell – shameless self promotion heyyy) and just don’t have the desire to take time out of the #hustlegrindalldaywhatever life to go see a doctor. Plus I also have a pressing desire to never make the same mistake I made for so many years in not being proactive about my health.

So this service seals the deal for me.

Here is the trick, you actually have to use it. You can’t be that person to not let your doctor know about stuff. If you are sick, text him. If you feel like you need to see a doctor, text him. Your doctor can refer you to specialists, prescribe medication, order bloodwork, and the response time is quick. You don’t need to call your doctor’s receptionist, make an appointment, miss work, drive to the office, wait in the waiting room, read horrible magazines, see your doctor for a few minutes, and drive home.

This is quick, easy, effective, and it comes with the caveat that you have to take a proactive approach to your health and NOT reactive.

If you just go to the doctor when you are sick, you are missing out on what the value of this service truly is.

You pay of pocket for this service but you use your insurance for specialists, medication, bloodwork, and tests ordered.

Fast forward to today…

I am 40 pounds lighter, I am only on two medications, my doctor helps me manage my blood pressure and vitals remotely, when I need a refill it is taken care of quickly, and my cardiologist gave me the amazing, “I think you and your doctor have it from here”, about 5 months ago.

So yea, I trust this service, and Spencer is more than just a friend, he is invaluable.

This is a perfect third email to send because the case study and social proof sells. This is nothing more than just a simple email with a customer testimonial and a video attached. This will assure others that this service can provide value.

Other emails in the drip email campaign

The emails don’t end there. The team continues to drip their users with on-going product updates, internal announcements, and most importantly popular health topics that they cover in their blog articles. Through this on-going engagement with their users, they’re able to convert more and more users over time.

The takeaway from this article is that drip email campaigns work. Yes, it requires a lot of work and there are a lot of different complex strategies you can test and use for it, but in general, this is a good example of results that you can achieve with good email nurturing.

If you’re looking to create custom drip email campaigns like these, then reach out to us and we’ll be more than happy to put together a series of drips that convert for you!
