SaaS Real Estate Case Study: Growing organic keywords and search by 900%

2 min read

In this case study, we’ll cover how we helped one of our clients in the real estate industry (SaaS Product) grow their organic keywords and search by 900% over the course of 6 months.

As of now, 85% of their user signups are coming from organic traffic due to the consistent amount of content that we put together for them on a weekly basis.

This client first approached us because they wanted to produce more long-form educational content for their readers. Their target is broad. Basically any real estate agent/broker could use their app. They’ve already been producing a good amount of content in-house, but none of them were highly search targeted or long-form evergreen.

The founders understood the importance of content marketing and how it could drive them more results in the long term, but they needed a good content marketing strategy as well as a plan of implementation that comes with content promotion as well.

Starting off with the basics

The first thing we did was to do intensive research on the market and their competitors. We took all the research data that we were able to gather and put together a spreadsheet that laid out all the search terms that their competitors were ranking for. It looked something like this:

This allowed us to narrow down on specific posts that competitors are ranking for and will allow our team to create content that is even more in-depth and better. It also helps us generate a lot of topic ideas and context.

Next up, we did a good amount of research to pull a list of low hanging fruit keywords and compiled a spreadsheet based on that. It looked like this:

After doing all the research, we had a good idea about what type of content we need to write.

Taking action

As mentioned above, they already had a lot of in-house writers that wrote a good amount of content in the past, but a lot of them were outdated. The first plan of action was to revamp all those content, update them, and make it better while fixing all the internal linking to piggyback off the articles that are well-performing vice versa.

Our approach was to:

  • Take all the low word count blog post and update them.
  • Merge articles together to create longer-form content.
  • Implement a whole new list of targeted keywords and long-tail keywords.
  • Update all “old” content with the latest research links, prices, stats, and more.
  • Add more unique content based on the keyword research findings.

One of the best ways to rank better on Google is looking at the top 10 results for the desired keywords and reverse engineer what they already like to see.

Next up, we set up a consistent schedule for producing evergreen long-form educational content for real estate agents based on our research. This included 2-3 long-form blog posts a week, 2 ebooks/lead magnet per month, 2 newsletter sends per week, and on-going community engagement and guest posting.

Guest posting and link building require a lot of manual work, but it is necessary for increasing your rankings.

To maximize the value of content promotion, we also create a set of infographics and did manual email outreach to help with building backlinks.

Our client was super happy with the results and continue to work with us today on content marketing and creation. Over the course of 6 months, we were able to achieve 900% increase in organic keywords and search traffic.

  1. Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.
